Made in 1941, Walt Disney's hilarious film How to Ski was the first ever cartoon to feature Goofy's now famous "holler" or, as you might know it, "Yaaaaaaa-hoo-hoo-hoo-hooey!"
This cel or celluloid set up would have been used in the original production process after the animators' original drawings were traced onto sheets of transparent plastic and hand-painted in colour. Then projected via a multiplane camera onto a separate background, each cel would be moved by hand according to the animating directors to create a minute yet crucial movement in the final film.
As a 'Courvoisier cel', this piece is mounted and framed with a certificate of authenticity and comes from the exclusive archives of Guthrie Courvoisier; a revered art dealer who worked with the Disney brothers back in the 1930s.
