This seductively simple original oil painting by Richard Rowan was inspired by the song ‘Lights’ by LiQWYD from his critically acclaimed single. The monochromatic colours of black and white coupled with its almost photo-realist style makes this original artwork the perfect way to add a classic yet contemporary touch to your wall.
Using a selection of ingenious techniques to create his intricate and atmospheric artworks, Richard first selects a piece of music which he associates with a particular time and place. He then replays this music while he paints to evoke the surroundings and emotions he felt in the original landscape.
At the same time, he uses his own revered technique of reverse painting onto glass. Starting with the foreground before painting backwards until all he can see is the vague strokes of his background, Richard is able to capture minute details of shading against a raw backdrop of richly coloured sky; preserved within the layers of paint on glass.
The fourth photograph (in the image carousel) of this artwork showcases the viewing window on the back of the frame; illustrating the complexity of Richard's painting technique outlined above. To see more of Richard's incredible artistic process click here.
