Jeffrey and Michael Bisaillon’s latest collection of extraordinary pop art originals and limited editions - Revolution - features music icons David Bowie and The Beatles, all Vinylgraphs - 3D pop art records which float off the wall, and, of course, feature the Brothers’ trademark trinary codes.
The Revolution Vinylgraphs are born from the American brothers’ love of vinyl records. Their father is a huge music fan who has a collection of six jukeboxes and thousands of 45rpm singles. This gave them the inspiration to create a unique and innovative piece of artwork based on the timeless vinyl disc. “All of the Vinylgraph pieces are bedded in history like a lot of the works we produce,” say the Brothers, “starting with personal and cultural favourite 45’s which are then researched to give the layers of thought and historical reference. They not only create an attractive and aesthetically pleasing finished piece but work as visual aids to a specific place in time, like a good song transporting you to where you were when you first heard it. There is a huge amount of nostalgia associated with vinyl records where a certain record can tie the past with the present in the mind. Vinyl records are back in fashion in a big way and have a rich, warm sound that can’t be duplicated by the digital formats of today”.
The Bisaillon Brothers have been developing these exclusive Vinylgraphs for more than two years, working out how to make them with a revolutionary production process which makes these pieces unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. This piece reflects the life of David Bowie in 1975, a time where he was moving into film, and working on songs with John Lennon; both of whom were experiencing dissatisfaction with the troubles of fame and stardom. Considered one the greatest stars of the rock and roll era he redefined musical genres, restlessly challenging musical boundaries.
Featuring the iconic Beatles who are widely regarded to be the most popular and influential musical acts of all time. Trail blazers of popular music who made an impact on pop culture over several decades, which continues today. “Decades after the release of Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band, Paul McCartney said that this album was when they decided they were ‘artists rather than performers’ and that speaks to us as artists ourselves,” say the Bisaillon Brothers.
