Documenting Sheffield's history: Joe Scarborough – Life in the Big Village

As a miner, Joe Scarborough found his inspiration in the colour and light above ground. This summer, he will be showcasing over 60 of his nostalgic paintings and drawings at the Weston Park Museum in Sheffield, documenting a glorious career that has spanned five decades.

The exhibition, Joe Scarborough – Life in the Big Village, illustrates a love affair with the 'Steel City’, which has been brought to life in paint since selling his first artwork “for a fiver”. Joe adds: “From the start of my career my paintings have been inspired by Sheffield and the people who live here. I’ve always seen the city as my native village – from the local pubs and parks to places where people work and live.”

The exhibition will run until Sunday 24th November and entry is free.
