Scarlett Raven’s Portrait collection to take over Cass Art stores!
Every day, Cass Art supplies artists across the UK with the materials they need to create art that changes the world. One such artist was an 11-year-old Scarlett Raven, who spent her pocket money on oil paints to create works influenced by Vincent van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci and Andy Warhol.
Now, alongside digital artist and co-creator Marc Marot, she will exhibit her new collection, Portrait: The Reason Why I Paint, at Cass Art’s Islington and Glasgow stores. Inspired by her childhood adoration of these legendary artists, the series of works features layers of animation, graphics, music and narration – viewable with the Artivive app.
History’s greatest painters – including Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Frida Kahlo and Jackson Pollock – will take over the stores from Tuesday 20th August and Tuesday 3rd September respectively, with the collection launching online and in galleries in August.
Cass Art: supporting artists for 100 years
The Cass family have been involved in the art world for over a century. Their mission to ‘fill this town with artists’ began in 1901, when Paul Cassirer held one of Europe’s first exhibitions of Van Gogh’s work in Berlin.
In 1984, Mark Cass set up the first Cass Art shop at 13 Charing Cross Road in London, in the same spot Claude Monet once shopped. Along with setting up the Cass Sculpture Foundation, the family have donated hundreds of artworks from their own collection to museums nationwide. They now have 13 UK stores and continue to support the next generation of artists.

Scarlett began buying paint from Cass Art when she was 11 years old and went on to collaborate with them in 2009, when she posed drenched in oil paints for their ‘Paint This Town’ campaign.The adverts were shot by the internationally-renowned photographer Nadav Kander and promoted the new line of Winsor and Newton 200ml oils.
Following a live-painting window installation at their Charing Cross store the same year, Scarlett joined forces with them again in 2014 for their ART2ART series, which explored artists’ favourite products.
Moving on from The Danger Tree
Taking its name from the only tree left standing on the battlefield during World War One, The Danger Tree tells an immersive story of the soldiers who fought and fell between 1914 and 1918.
Since 2016, the project has touched people around the world, exhibiting in prestigious locations including Manchester’s Central Library and the Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool.
The new Portraits: The Reason Why I Paint series marks a change in style for Scarlett from emotive landscapes to expressive figurative works.
