Known for his dark, intricate sculptures, Dan Lane has been a regular fixture on the contemporary art scene since his debut in 2014. In November 2017, he released his stunning new Unchained collection to a packed crowd at the Shoreditch venue, Village Underground.
The alternative setting (boasting revamped tube carriages, shipping containers and a warehouse) in East London was the perfect backdrop for his new work, which combines Baroque styling with modernity. During the evening, guests chatted to Dan about his exciting foray into limited edition prints.
Inspired by the sculptures found in churches and cathedrals around the world, Dan sculpts, moulds and casts most of his components by hand and combines them with found or specially-sourced objects. Nature also influcences his art, with many pieces featuring flowers, insects and birds.
