Created over a period of six years, Revelations: A Portrait of Magic, depicts the beloved characters of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, including Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Albus Dumbledore, Draco Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrange. In “Towards a Powerful Conclusion” featuring the iconic trio with Harry, Hermione and Ron in a bright coloured background, the artist uses subtle tones of paint to create the illusion of transparency. In a triangular pose, they demonstrate a powerful friendship and through the art of illusion and magic they revel themselves as a unified bond. Central to this painting and representing this bond, are the wheels and cogs that symbolise everyone having their own role to play – if one fails, they all fail.
Described as ‘supernatural realism’ by the BBC and by Radio 2 art critic Estelle Lovatt as 'one of the most creative minds in art today”, Scottish artist Stuart regularly hits the headlines with his Pop Art paintings. After digitally reworking his original paintings, Stuart uses this as a base for a final hand-finished version, whereby he paints over with a kaleidoscopic layer of colour. The overall effect on the character is similar to looking through a glass bottle.
This distortion plays a key part in his work: the layers of text, logos and symbols unfurl around the figures like smoke, with the abstracted imagery suggesting fragmented memories and a complete visual experience. As most dark forces seen in classical works by artists like Gustav Doré and Eugène Delacroix, they are meant to demonstrate that beneath it all there’s a power and strength that resides within us and in this case, within these characters.

Scottish artist Stuart regularly hits the headlines with his Pop Art paintings. Fusing cartoons with themes of idealism and consumerism, his multilayered artworks blend the past with the present through layers of figurative imagery, text and symbols. His release, Revelations: A Portrait of Magic, depicts the central characters of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series.
Stuart's McAlpine Miller’s spectral style has been described as ‘supernatural realism’ by the BBC and Radio 2 art critic Estelle Lovatt, who also praised its 4D aesthetic, adding that he has “one of the most creative minds in art today”. Using subtle tones of paint, he creates the illusion of transparency. The overall effect is similar to looking through a glass bottle, distorting the image and presenting a different version of the same subject. In turn, a far-fetched reality is created, highlighting the unrealistic expectations of today’s society.
