Celebrating their 20th anniversary with Castle Fine Art, artistic duo Peter and Jayne Smith are back in galleries with Scoff. , their exciting new collection of five hand-signed limited editions.

Centred around a selection of the British public’s favourite pantry essentials, the collection contemplates themes of friendship, love, and life with kids. Whether it is the comforting warmth of gravy or the spicy kick of hot sauce, the pair’s artworks not only playfully pun on the product associations but also creatively weave them into the fabric of everyday life.

Every detail of the iconic packaging of these tasty treats has been rewritten by the Smith’s to further the relatable tone of the artwork. From the product name and tagline to the nutritional information, the pair’s sense of humour can be found in every brushstroke.

Scoff. sees the duo continue to explore the surreal still life oil paintings they have become so well known for. Of course, the new artworks also feature the – now infamous – Impossimals that have made the Smith’s artwork so beloved and collectable. Having gained a dedicated following in the fine art world, the Impossimals embody Peter Smith’s fine artistic craftsmanship and the pair’s unique blend of humour and creativity.

The new pieces see the Impossimals interacting with the products in ingenious ways befitting of the phrases the Smiths have snuck into the artwork. The Impossimals were born as a result of Peter Smith experimenting with how few features he could give a character whilst retaining expression and personality. Their cheeky faces and amusing poses are part of what makes Scoff. so charming.
