Painter and motorcycle enthusiast Bob Barker may delight fans with his nostalgic artworks, but he got a flashback of his own when he was visited at his Bradford studio by the Mutts Nutts Scooter Club. The gang rode around his hometown on motorcycles, just like Bob did as a youth.
Bob says: “Back in the day, ‘when I were a lad’, the only thing you had to decide was whether you were a Mod or a Rocker. I chose the former. I liked the clothes better and thought the scooters were cooler (and would maybe help me with the girls). How wrong was I?
“It brings back memories of being left sat on my Lambretta GP 200 motorcycle with its array of mirrors, shiny chrome bull bars and fur-covered backrest. My love interest’s name would be written on the flyscreen even as she walked off into the sunset. To this day, I can still smell the acetone on my hands from removing the sticky vinyl letters!"
