A wee brown dog in endless colour

Billy Connolly's mesmerising abstract artworks have undergone incredible transformation since his first signed limited edition collection in 2012. What started as an exclusively monochromatic body of work has become an incredibly bright and vibrant collection of art that combines Billy’s powerful black and white drawings with metamorphic colour palettes. This artistic evolution from the 79-year-old comedian and actor culminates in the extraordinary 2022 collection ‘Scotty Poser’.

His first artwork of a Scottish terrier, lovingly referred to as ‘Scotty Poser,’ was one of Billy’s first pieces to be fleshed out in colour and was a record-breaking sell out within hours of launch. Now, an impressive collection of 24 colour variations demonstrates the artist’s use of colour that, in his words, “had a profound impact on me. I didn’t realise it would do so much to bring the drawings to life”.

Every ‘Scotty Poser’ variation has his own distinct character created by the application of colour. Different yet beautifully harmonious, each artwork uses the same four colours- red, yellow, green, and blue- but they have profoundly different effects. Warm and cool tones contrast each other to create beautiful sets from ‘Scotty Poser I-VI (Set of Six Editions)’ to ‘Scotty Poser I-XXIV (Set of 24 Editions)’.
