Our South Molton Street gallery opened its doors for a spectacular event with a live DJ in November 2019 (scroll down to find out more!). Headlining the evening was former Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year contestant Emma-Leone Palmer, whose celestial Afterglow collection explores the complexity of the human mind through an electric entanglement of oil paint and neon wires.
The collection has won the acclaim of interior design expert Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, who describes it as "exciting" and "energising". Order the artworks below, or contact us here to find out more.
To create her hypnotic pieces, Emma allows her subjects to interact organically with pliable lighting strips and neon wires. Using colours similar to infrared photography, the Surrey-based artist captures the futuristic otherness of the body by exploring each subject’s intimate connection with energy.
She adds: “The way the light play catches the undulations has me mesmerised as a painter. I knew I had to experiment and play in a new way. Be naked, be vulnerable, strip it back, change it up.”
Our packed event welcomed collectors from all over the country to our brand-new gallery. Guests, including Money Saving Expert guru Martin Lewis, LBC radio presenter Nick Ferrari and the TV presenter Ben Shephard, were treated to drinks, canapés and live music in the modern space.
Media personality Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen also offered his congratulations to Emma, adding: "Afterglow is a body of some of the most exciting and energising work in oils I've seen since my early days at art school in the 1490s. You have absolutely captured the now, but have done it with the flawless tecnhnique of a classicist."
