Published in 1969 and written by Marvel legend Stan Lee, “Thor #169” is a Marvel Superhero unique print of the issue’s cover, hand-signed by John Romita Sr. This issue was marked by the first appearance of the Creeping Plague, later known as Black Winter. Thor Odinsion, first appeared in “Journey into Mystery #83” in August 1962. Based on the mythological god with the same name, he’s the Asgardian god of thunder. The character went to be featured in the Marvel Universe extensively, including as the founding member of The Avengers.

Having heavily influenced the iconic look of Marvel comics we adore today, Romita was later promoted as Marvel’s art director and later inducted in the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Inkwell Awards Joe Sinnott Hall of Fame in 2020.

Stan Lee, the American legendary comic book writer started in 1942 as an editorial assistant for Timely Comics, during which time he met John Romita. The Manhattan-born Lee wrote, art-directed and edited most of Marvel’s series, becoming one of the most important figures in the creation of the Marvel Universe.
