One of the most exciting female artists in the UK today, Scarlett Raven’s recognised for the emotional intensity and heavy texture in landscape originals that standout in any collection. Bursting with bright colour and incredible texture, this beautiful original artwork not only showcases her own signature style, but also the art historical genre of impasto painting. With stylistic influences from Vincent Van Gogh, Anselm Kiefer, Gustav Klimt and David Hockney, her emotive works are inspired by her deep personal connection with nature.
“I always say that I see flowers and nature as symbolism, but it’s really the wrong word. I like to see them as people. Nature has been here long before us and hopefully will be here a long time after and as such it has a higher purpose.”
Featuring a dense overgrowth of wildflowers, sunflowers, poppies and daffodils, Scarlett Raven's new 2024 collection evokes an enticing portal to a secret garden. Scarlett is best known for her botanical artworks that seamlessly blend floral study and precision with an impressionist's artistic flair, capturing the intense beauty of plant life in striking impasto compositions. Scarlett's depictions of landscapes offer observers a sense of escape and reveirie with a romantic quality where you might find yourself in the image.
“In these new paintings we’re so much closer to the flowers, like we’ve stepped further inside and it’s more intimate and intense, we’re among the flowers and we’ve sat down among them. They’re rawer and they’re really about living in those moments, sitting down in them, and taking time in nature, everything is magnified and intensified. The last few years have been really developmental for me, and getting back into the freedom and rawness of drawing has been so much fun, I guess you could say I’ve really found myself and so I’m going deeper into my landscapes and being less scared, I’m being more immersive in my paintings and really finding myself falling into them.”
This incredible original artwork by Scarlett can be displayed in a range of spaces and will make a gorgeous centrepiece to any wall. Find out more about this originals collection, or alternatively shop more art.
