Explore Stan Lee's Marvel Universe
In 2019, the first-ever Marvel comic book sold at auction for a record $1.26 million. Speaking on the sale of the 1939 issue, Ed Jaster, the senior vice president of Heritage Auctions, remarked: "This is a historic copy of a historic comic book."
It is an honour to present some of the best-known comic book covers from our Marvel collection, each of which has been hand-signed by the late Stan Lee and adds to the historical narrative of the legendary publishing powerhouse. Featured in the selection are some of Marvel's most iconic superheroes, including the Amazing Spider-Man, Deadpool, Wolverine, Thor and the X-Men.

Did you know?
The Fantastic Four were the first superheroes Stan Lee and Jack Kirby collaborated on. They later worked together on other fan favourites, including the X-Men and the Hulk.
Other notable Marvel artists included Steve Ditko (co-creator of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange), whose work was likened to that of Salvador Dali by the historian Bradford W. Wright.
