Capturing Light and Colour

At the heart of Lawrence's work is his mastery of light and colour, which he uses to enhance the scale and grandeur of the landscapes he depicts. From the soft hues of dawn to the vibrant colours of dusk, Lawrence's paintings capture the ever-changing beauty of the natural world with breathtaking precision.

Through this use of light and colour, Lawrence creates a sense of depth and dimension that draws viewers into his paintings, inviting them to explore every nuance of the landscape. His keen eye for composition and his ability to capture the fleeting moments of beauty in the world around him make Lawrence's work truly timeless.

For Lawrence, inspiration is found in the simple joys of life – from the sound of birdsong to the sight of a majestic sunset. Drawing on his childhood memories and his deep connection to the British landscape, Lawrence creates paintings that resonate with viewers on a deeply emotional level.

Residing in rural South Lincolnshire, Lawrence's home is enveloped by a diverse landscape of expansive farmland, verdant pastures, and dense woodlands. Situated on the outskirts of a quaint village, Lawrence enjoys the privilege of stepping out into vast panoramas dominated by towering skies or immersing himself in the tranquil embrace of secluded groves and foliage.

“My work focuses on contrast and the moments of hope and optimism shining through.”

Evolution of Technique

Over the years, Lawrence has continuously refined his technique, experimenting with different tools to create textures which elevate his art to new heights. From meticulously scratching in detail with cocktail sticks to using palette knives to add depth and texture, Lawrence's paintings are a testament to his mastery of the medium.

Texture plays a crucial role in Lawrence's work, adding depth and dimension to his landscapes and enhancing the overall atmosphere of his paintings. Through his hands-on approach and meticulous attention to detail, Lawrence creates artworks that are as captivating to the touch as they are to the eye.

A hallmark feature of Lawrence's paintings is the inclusion of small, intricate details within each piece, often featuring tiny figures. These details serve as personal tokens within his compositions, allowing viewers to connect on a more intimate level. By juxtaposing these minute figures against the backdrop of dramatic landscapes, Lawrence adds a sense of scale that amplifies the impact of his artwork, drawing viewers deeper into the narrative of each painting.
