This year, we celebrate Nic Joly’s tenth anniversary with Castle Fine Art and in the run-up to this, we’re proud to launch his new collection! To kick off this special year, Nic has added a new piece, ‘Go For It’, to his collection entitled The Next Chapter.
In addition to the original and limited-edition artworks in this collection, Nic presents 10 one-off, individual pieces of his title 'Be Brave'. These artworks take the form of intricate cartographic masterpieces and abstract representations, using a map of a particular place of great sentiment to Nic and his family.
Nic Joly, sculptor of exquisite miniature masterpieces, celebrates ten years with Castle Fine Art with a forward-looking new collection. In The Next Chapter, Nic has produced a new collection of original pieces, with reimagined and finessed references to past works, intermingled with new concepts.
For the first time in over half a decade, Nic has created brand new ‘book pieces’ and interpreted literary classics with his own unique gaze, conveying powerful narratives and emotions through his exceptional eye for humour, irony and beauty.
Go For It
To kick off this special year, Nic has added a new piece, ‘Go For It’, to his collection entitled The Next Chapter. The artwork depicts the words ‘Walk on the Wild Side’, along with 16 detailed miniature figures breaking convention. It embodies an ethos of breaking away from what society expects of us and having the bravery to explore uncharted territories and embrace of the unconventional.
Nic’s skill as a sculptor empowers him to defy norms, provoke thought, and evoke emotions that lie beyond the confines of his world. ‘Go For It’ encourages the viewer to embrace individuality, authenticity, and self-discovery and step outside their comfort zone.
The works invite viewers to lean in closely, encouraging an intimate connection and a deeper appreciation of Nic’s artistry. Whether it's capturing the essence of a fleeting moment, reimagining historical scenes or interpreting fictional scenes, Nic possesses a unique ability to communicate with subtlety and finesse.
In his new collection, Nic has challenged conventional notions of scale, transforming the mundane into the extraordinary, and has created an entire universe within the palm of his hand. It invites viewers to pause, ponder, and marvel at the astonishing world of small wonders, reminding us that beauty and creativity can be found even in the tiniest of details.
