The bravery of our key workers - including doctors, nurses, paramedics, firemen and the police - has been memorialised by a large-scale mural in Birmingham city centre. Created by the world-renowned graffiti artist Gent 48 in collaboration with Art4Charity, the artwork was turned into a limited edition print and signed by local dignitaries at our Mailbox gallery, where it was displayed alongside our collection. Watch the original mural come to life below!
Capturing perhaps the biggest crisis we will encounter in our lifetime, this vibrant scene was completed in June 2020 and has already been featured by ITV News and the BBC. As the brainchild of Professor Paul Cadman, Nathaniel Hanna, Nick Herd and Nik Kendall, the project celebrates the spirit of Birmingham and pays homage to its incredible hospitals and staff.
After drawing huge crowds to Meredith Street in Digbeth, the mural was recreated as a limited edition print and signed by local dignitaries including Councillor John O'Shea and the entrepreneur Tru Powell. A selection of prints, some of which are hand-signed by Gent 48, are now available through the Art4Charity website, with prices starting at just £165.
All proceeds will go to the Lord Mayor of Birmingham's Charity to be distributed to Acorns Children's Hospice Trust, SIFA Fireside and Birmingham St Mary's Hospice.
"In these unprecedented times of COVID-19, the artwork demonstrates the City of Birmingham does indeed move ‘Forward in Unity’."Art4Charity
