Light has always been a key medium for Paul Kenton in his breath-taking landscapes; from lily ponds and mountain peaks, to bustling Parisian scenes and American avenues. This artwork forms part of Searching Light, a collection that celebrates the artist's extraordinary use of metal and light that bring two-dimensional artworks life. The metallic canvas of the artist's work has a transformative effect; in different lights, the paintings take on a new life – glowing one minute and shimmering the next.
“Light is everything: it creates form, shape and mood. I play with shadows to help create perspective, with the little areas of light drawing your eye into the piece.”- Paul Kenton.

Paul Kenton is a UK-based contemporary artist, acclaimed for his cityscape paintings which capture the unique energy of cities across the world. Paul’s paintings aim to transport the viewer, giving them a sense of the distinctive mood, pace and light of a scene, through layers of bold colour, dripped lines and gestural paint marks. Kenton is constantly exploring new ideas for paintings in his sketchbook, painting en plein air, drawing not only from cityscapes, but also from his fascination with motorsport, the sea and pop culture.
