Leaving behind his hectic life as a fashion photographer in New York to plant his family’s roots in rural Connecticut, USA, Raphael Mazzucco used the earth as his canvas and let his fusion of nature, portraiture and photography grow. The result was Gaia: a stunning homage to Mother Earth.
Featuring new mixed media original artworks and two beautiful hand-embellished giclée prints, the second release from the series is a spellbinding mixture of colours and textures. From gold foil to flowers, feathers and leaves, each piece is hand-finished with amazing detail.

The hand-embellished, mixed media silkscreen prints are printed on 100% cotton watercolour paper, which was created using natural woollen felts to give it a beautiful, unique texture. Vivid colours are magnified by the acid-free, archival paper and gold foil elements. The rustic edges are showcased by the float-mounted effect, which suspends the print in the frame.
Adorned with natural elements - including leaves, feathers and shark teeth - from around the world, the original archival prints were created in Raphael's outdoor studio. For an organic feel, they were left outside to interact with the weather, evolving in the heat and sunlight.
"Anywhere and everywhere can be an inspiration. Beauty is where you want to find it."Raphael Mazzucco
