Featured art (L-R): 'Another Garrison' and 'Already Broken', £550 each. Also available in a set of four for £2,650.
Make a statement with one of this year's biggest trends: monochrome. For his new limited edition prints, Jon Jones has returned to the criminal underworld of late 19th-century Birmingham to explore the reign of the notorious Peaky Blinders gang. His soulful portraits, originally painted in oils, have a cinematic quality; like classic Hollywood films and black-and-white photography, he uses light and shadow to create atmosphere.
In contrast to other trends like Pop or Abstract art, the muted palette creates a feeling of harmony and simplicity. The nostalgia evoked by the monochromatic aesthetic embodies the meticulous research that Jon carried out alongside the West Midlands Police Museum. By taking away the colour, Jon allows viewers to concentrate on the narrative of his images, which includes a solitary drink in a pub. Textures are also highlighted, with the leather, glass and smoke captured expertly by our specialist team during the fine art giclée process. For the first time, Jon's art is also available as a print on aluminium, framed beautifully in sustainable black pine.
Ellie Torpey, a fine art consultant at our Harrogate gallery, says: “Our collectors have found that Jon’s art works really well in home bars, snugs and cinema rooms. Because his style is identifiable and consistent across collections, it is easy to mix and match his pieces, or rotate them throughout the year to create a different look.”
Featured art: 'Breathless' by Paul Kenton, £1,495. Also available as a set of two, £2,695.
If you're yearning for the great outdoors, you'll love the new Ascension collection from Paul Kenton. These spectacular mountainscapes take inspiration from a summer road trip to Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps and Western Europe. From Chamonix at the base of Mont Blanc, Paul travelled to the top of Aiguille du Midi, which offered spectacular panoramic views of the French, Swiss and Italian Alps.
A change in perspective could be just what you need to elevate your home or office space. Ellie says: “Paul’s artworks are fantastic in rooms with natural daylight, as the light reflects in the aluminium. The interaction with sunlight creates different effects at different times of the day. They’re statement pieces and a modern take on the traditional landscape, so are a great addition to a modern home with contemporary furniture.”
Featured art: 'The Silent Inferno' by Lawrence Coulson, £995. Also available in a set of two, £1,795.
With calming coral, velvet violet and pacific pink named the top colours in this year’s Shutterstock Color Trends report, it looks like vibrant tones are here to stay. If you're keen to experiment with colour but unsure where to start, a colourful artwork paired with a neutral décor can be an easy first step. Great for matching with cream and white walls, the new pieces from Lawrence Coulson combine the reality of everyday life and the escapist virtues of fantasy and nature.
Capturing a moonlit sky and a blazing sunset over the Scottish coastline, these powerful scenes draw upon time spent in the wild and spiritual setting of the Cairngorms mountain range. Ellie adds: “Lawrence’s landscapes are an exciting way to add a pop of colour to a room. Because they have a simple narrative, they are easy to add to a space with an existing interior design. They are amazing when combined with warm, low lighting – especially in a living room, or somewhere calm where you want to relax.”
