With bright pops of red accentuating the different tones of delicate graphite, this otherworldly original drawing by Robert Bailey perfectly captures the iconic characters and retro quality of Star Trek: The Original Series.
The historic show was given the retronym 'The Original Series' after its initial running from 1966-1969 to distinguish it from the tidal wave of subsequent adaptations; these include seven TV series, three animated series, and thirteen films (and counting). Before humanity had even landed on the moon, viewers had watched Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) traverse the Milky Way Galaxy with his crew on the 'Starship Enterprise' encountering new planets and civilisations! The subsequent pop culture revolution saw the original series become one of the most successful science fiction television series in history with modern adaptations continuing to be made today.
Hand-signed by William Shatner himself, who has since been into real space, this original artwork by Robert Bailey will add a touch of space-age magic into your home through a bold and bright colour palette and bespoke black wooden frame. View our full Robert Bailey portfolio here.

The artist
Robert Bailey
Pencil artist Robert delights fans across the globe with his amazingly detailed Star Wars drawings and commissions of scenes from classic films. Even George Lucas has added them to his collection! Collectors of his Star Wars pieces include Harrison Ford, John Travolta, Tom Cruise, and the late Carrie Fisher. Robert's art uses a method called hatching, whereby his closely-drawn parallel lines imply shade, tone and texture. The distance between the hatching marks determine how light or dark that area appears. Robert says about his art: 'Only by practice can the dexterity of fine pencil work be kept up."
