Alfie Bowen's documentary makes its debut!

Before launching his debut Call of the Wild collection in April 2021, our new artist Alfie Bowen released his inspirational An Eye For Detail documentary on the WaterBear network. The documentary takes us through Alfie's rise from a child struggling with undiagnosed autism and relentless bullying to a renowned wildlife photographer with a fan base that includes high-profile figures such as Richard Branson, David Attenborough, and the philanthropist John Caudwell

Wildlife presenter Chris Packham, who was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome in his 40s and is now a friend of Alfie's, sees something particularly exceptional in him. He says: "Alfie is a special photographer - he sees his subjects rather than just looking at them, he not only responds to their form, but also to their feeling. He has a keen eye for detail, ultra-detail, not in terms of resolution, but in terms of connection and emotion. And that is a rare and magnificent success."

A dream come true

In the film, Alfie proudly reveals how he overcame his past struggles and how his autism has actually helped him to achieve his goals. This includes his signing with Castle Fine Art, which he describes as a "dream come true".

Through Alfie's lens, audiences are forced to view each animal with respect, honour and admiration. His monochromatic photographs can take weeks, months and even years to capture, but he uses his passion, dedication and obsession with animals to ensure that he always gets the final shot he has envisioned.

As an ambassador for organisations and events such as WWF and the United Nations Climate Change Conference, Alfie continues to forge a path of acceptance and understanding for autistic people worldwide.

"I have always said that autistic people possess great talents, and all that is needed for those talents to shine is a little kindness and acceptance, and I think this film confirms that statement."
