Following the immense success of Walt Disney's 1989 film 'The Little Mermaid', the spin off TV series of the same name began in 1992 and was only the third ever spin-off series from a Disney film at that time. Voiced by many of the same actors as the film, including Ariel and Sebastian, and it received positive reception. 

Production drawings are accomplished in pencil on paper and are the first step in the final creation of characters. Each drawing will be traced onto the animation cel to form the black outline before it is filled with colour and photographed.
