The raw power of Peaky Blinders and its characters ignited a fire of inspiration for Winterburn’s latest sculpture titled after the show’s mystifying title music, ‘Red Right Hand’. Born and raised in the Midlands, and spending much of his early days working in factories, he feels a connection with the series as a story born out of working-class revolution.
Depicting the notorious Shelby brothers, this carefully crafted with fine bronze sculpture by Steve Winterburn transports viewers back to the dark iconography of the much-loved series.
Inspired by a group shot of the three brothers, Tommy, Arthur and John, Winterburn has superbly captured the Shelby swagger whilst revealing each brother’s individual traits through their frame and intricate expressions. Tommy’s grit, Arthur’s ferocity and John’s recklessness. The flow of the three characters creates a real sense of movement and atmosphere around the sculpture. As the brothers stride with purpose, fists clenched, you can see the wind blowing against their immaculate suits.
We're proud to be donating a percentage of each sale of this artwork to our chosen charity, Birmingham Children's Hospital, to help fund the work they do to help over 90,000 sick children each year.
Based in Yorkshire, Winterburn’s incredibly complex process fuses the work of artist and artisan as he runs his own bronze-casting studio that calls upon thousand-year-old techniques from foundrymen to create incredibly detailed bronze artworks.
