Having previously enjoyed commissions from Coca-Cola, Nike and Saatchi & Saatchi and a solo show at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, 2014's cover:versions saw a change in pace for Temper. He swapped his spray can for a paintbrush, oils and acrylic to recreate twelve iconic album covers using a combination of photo-realistic effects and his signature graffiti B-boys.
The new 2015 addition to the cover:versions portfolio, entitled ‘Temper’s Cover Versions Graffiti Gang’ is inspired by the cover art for The Beatles' classic 1967 album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
However, instead of the celebrities depicted in the original cover, this piece features an array of previous cover:versions characters in the background, along with new characters created to represent different musical genres, as a nod to the impact music and cover art has had on Temper as an artist and to previous titles in the cover:versions portfolio.
Fine Art Publisher Washington Green Fine Art has worked closely with the artist to produce this bespoke vinyl record frame, designed especially for the cover:versions canvas editions by Temper. Producing the vinyl frame the right way is a time-consuming and labour-intensive undertaking — it requires the use of only premium materials, and relies on the skill and focus of talented artisans. The choice of manufacturing method and finest materials were critical to give an exact replica of the artist’s original in detail, colour and finish. Washington Green spent the best part of a year in development to ensure this level of quality, experimenting with several different processes and materials before settling on the those that provide the product you see today. Such is the attention to detail, it is possible to see not only the grooves in the records but the surface scratches on the records present on the original.

The artist Temper (Arron Bird) was born out of graffiti culture. Since picking up a spray can at the age of 10, he has transformed the medium.
In 1995, we opened our first-ever gallery in Stratford-upon-Avon. With just one goal in mind - to make our art accessible to all - our fledgling company began to spread its roots.
Every piece of art is mounted, glazed or framed by hand, with our bespoke framing service selected by our creative department.
Our foundations are built on a passion for art, and many of our staff (and collectors!) have been with us from the very beginning.
Our dedicated team of art consultants is on hand to offer you tailored advice.
