Pascale Taurua celebrates the power of the feminine in her new collection of stunning original art.
Bold, vibrant and contemporary, Pascale Taurua launches a new collection of stunning original artworks combining her stylistically figurative art with the vivid colour of the French street art aesthetic. In brilliant colour and confident brushstrokes, Pascale vividly depicts the female form as bold, dauntless and modern in an expressive celebration of powerful women.
Her sensual paintings have often featured classic French fashion brands, honouring the use of fashion as a form of self-expression. In her new pieces, it’s the female form which takes centre stage, filling the canvas with a focus on light, colour and confidence from the inside out. Each piece within the new collection shows strength, power, and diversity through the striking poses that Pascale has chosen, bringing out the individual form, enhanced, rather than defined by fashion.
These ultra-modern statement pieces are a true celebration of being happy in your own skin, portraying positive self-expression and bold energy, dominating the canvas with their confidence. Like many creatives before her, including Tahitian artists such as Gauguin, Boullaire, Bouloc and Ravello, Taurua’s earliest inspiration comes from the peaceful island women of Tahiti – their strong sense of self and ownership of their femininity is found reflected across all Pascale’s art. Reframing the subject, much of her art centres around the female experience, with the inspiration of her mother, grandmother and other female relatives before them.
A dynamic range of colour and compositions have been used to bring a vibrant and striking element to each piece. Using large brush strokes of oil paint Pascale has given texture to the painting’s story, while still capturing a soft, romantic feel from the range of tones created through light and shadow. She has used a range of pastel colours to create highlights on the skin, building a distinctive dynamic between the textures and patterns. The minimal backgrounds include a wide range of colour and texture to make the figures pop the forefront of the piece.
Each original piece has a multitude of influences; from places that Pascale has lived to people she has been inspired by. Known for her experimental style, Pascale is inspired by many different artforms, from the urban art on the streets of Paris to emotive figurative works displayed at the prestigious Salon d’Automne exhibition in Paris. Her journey has taken her to the Middle East and led her to experiment with materials such as gold leaf, which she has said “reflects the strength, beauty and light of the female”.
