Bob Dylan awarded Nobel Prize in Literature

As one of the most influential artists of all time, Bob Dylan has sold more than 125 million records and his sketches and paintings have garnered worldwide acclaim. And now he can add a new title to his accolades: Nobel Prize laureate.

From the orators of Ancient Greece to Ovid, Shakespeare and the Romantic poets, Professor Horace Engdahl added Dylan to the "great shifts in the world of literature" during his presentation speech at the 2016 ceremony. As a member of the Nobel Committee for Literature, the academic highlighted Dylan's contribution to the arts in his fascinating and concise overview of the evolution of the spoken word. 

Renowned for his meaningful lyrics, Bob Dylan has written influential songs such as 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door', 'The Times They Are A-Changin'' and 'It's All Over Now, Baby Blue'. In 2018, his lyrics were visually represented for the first time for his Mondo Scripto collection, which included hand-written lyrics and drawings.
