Part of his Spring 2021 collection, Lawrence Coulson produced this hand-varnished canvas on board of an intense lightening strike and thunderstorm, full of drama and contrast.
On creating his two stormy Spring 2021 releases, Lawrence Coulson said: 'I hoped to capture the sense of tension felt during thunderstorms. There is an anticipation that builds between one lightning strike and the next followed by the silence shattering thunderclap. It is this level of drama and contrast within nature that continues to fascinate me and provide endless inspiration for my paintings'. You can view his other featured artwork here.
This piece is perfect as a striking yet traditional feature in your home, and its gold foil frame suits a wide range of house styles as well as accentuating the electric strike which dominates the elegant composition.

Since joining our publisher in 1999, Lawrence has captivated audiences with his emotive landscapes, transporting viewers to serene vistas and inviting them to explore the beauty of the British countryside. Although he has experimented with new techniques and colour palettes, his style is instantly recognisable, evoking the calm and beauty of nature in each brushstroke.
Inspired by his local landscape, Lawrence's evocative paintings illustrate the power of nature. Fields, coastlines, woods and winding pathways are captured in exquisite detail, with the artist also rendering the beauty of natural phenomena such as sunrises, lightning, snow and fog.
Join us in commemorating 25 Years of Contemporary British Landscape as we celebrate Lawrence Coulson's remarkable journey with Castle Fine Art. Infused with a sense of nostalgia and wonder, this collection features breathtaking pieces inspired by locations such as Cornwall, Scotland, and Lincolnshire, and showcases Lawrence’s profound connection to nature and his ability to evoke mood and atmosphere.
In 1995, we opened our first-ever gallery in Stratford-upon-Avon. With just one goal in mind - to make our art accessible to all - our fledgling company began to spread its roots.
Every piece of art is mounted, glazed or framed by hand, with our bespoke framing service selected by our creative department.
Our foundations are built on a passion for art, and many of our staff (and collectors!) have been with us from the very beginning.
