Intergalactic art: Star Wars by Marvel | 2018

For the first time ever, this collection of Star Wars comic books has been translated into limited edition art. Celebrating one of the most popular film franchises of all time, it is released in collaboration with Choice Fine Art and Marvel's fine art publisher, Acme Archives.
Penned and inked by some of the greatest comic book artists and illustrators - including Carmine Infantino, Walt Simonson and Al Williamson - the selection was curated and hand-signed by Stan Lee. Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, the Stormtroopers, R2-D2, C-3P0 and the greatest villain of all time, Darth Vader, all make an appearance in the series. The collection consists of six images available in both boxed canvas and giclee on paper editions. Prices start from £695 and portfolio sets are also available.

It's rumoured that George Lucas initially approached Stan Lee in the mid-1970s, when the first of the Star Wars film was still in production. With a timeless concept, well-drawn characters and an underlying battle between good and evil, Stan Lee recognised something special in the burgeoning franchise. And thus the Star Wars Marvel comic series was born. Published between 1977 and 1986, it was the first official comic book adaptation of Star Wars, and the meeting of minds between two highly influential creative talents proved a to be a smash hit on its release.
