New home, new inspiration with Lawrence Coulson

Since moving to South Lincolnshire in August 2018, Lawrence has been in awe of the farmland, pastures and dense woodland that surround his studio. When we visited him to take exclusive photographs for the launch of his Celebration collection, we were almost moved to paint some landscapes ourselves! Luckily we left that to Lawrence, but we couldn't resist finding out more about his new home.

An affinity with nature

Lawrence told us: "Living at the edge of a small village means that I can walk out into huge vistas with towering skies, or absorb myself in silent trees and foliage. As I grow older, I feel a greater affinity with these places. I am not religious, but I feel a very spiritual connection with my surroundings – not just the sights, but the sounds and smells that nature communicates.

“My new studio is away from the house, backing onto trees. A corner of this area will be turned into a wild meadow for wildlife and insects, and I want to erect a nest box for owls. I feel it is time for me to start giving something back.”
