A pink neon artwork on hand-painted board by Illuminati Neon.

Collected by celebrities including Sir Elton John, Sting and Boy George, the art of Illuminati Neon (aka Mark Sloper) is influenced by the punk movement of the 1970s and 80s.

This piece features lyrics from the song ‘You are my Sunshine’, which was popularised by Jimmie Davis and Charles Mitchell in 1939 and has since been covered by musicians including Johnny Cash. The neon typography was created using a centuries-old technique, whereby the glass is bent under a temperature of 500˚C and compressed gas within the powder-coated tubes is ignited to produce an organic glow.
