Dan Lane returns with a brand-new collection featuring one sculpture and three new limited-edition artworks. The highly popular works have a contemporary, urban edge, but as an artist, Dan is hugely influenced by the creations of the Renaissance and it’s the fusion of the two different styles that make the pieces so special. The dark and thoughtful piece is full of contrasting details, incorporating elements in a balanced way, such as the opposing darkness and gothic representation of the skull and the crown and the more romantic nature of love with the adorning flowers and butterflies.
"In this piece I play with the movement of the dollars and try to make them look as if they are falling. As they fall they are joined by butterflies which for me represents nature an all together more important thing. As this play between the money and butterflies happens the skull is looking up as if to prey to the money," the artist told us.
Constantly constructing concepts as physical creations, Lane’s development and experimentation methods coupled with his ability to blend thematic elements, results in work that is simultaneously stylistically distinct and ever evolving. This elegantly portrayed on glass, bold limited edition is a statement piece in any room. The limited edition is as unique as the original, printed with expertise that highlights the metallic and silver details, adding depth to the smallest elements like the butterflies surrounding the skull and the dollar bills.
Originally created for the artist's “Chaos & Order” show, this elegantly portrayed on glass, bold limited edition is also available in a set of three.

Given Castle Fine Art's expertise as UK's leading art retailer, we are committed to the highest standards specially regarding printing. Derived from the French term gicler – meaning ‘to squirt or spray’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition print to an original artwork. The richness, accuracy and depth of colour is thanks to the method’s potential to achieve a huge colour gamut (the spectrum of colours distinguishable by the human eye).
Unlike the four tones used in lithography, giclées often use five: light cyan, cyan, light magenta, yellow and black. It is believed that a giclée will significantly outlast a lithographic print, keeping its vivid colour for up to 200 years.
Dan Lane's works certainly have a contemporary, urban edge, but as an artist, he is hugely influenced by the Renaissance. He is inspired by the sculptures found in churches and cathedrals around the world, particularly the flamboyant styling of the Italian sculptor and architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the artist credited with creating the Baroque style of sculpture, and other Italian artistic geniuses Michelangelo and Antonio Canova.
Nature also influences Dan's art, with many pieces featuring flowers, insects, and birds. For his original 3D sculptures, Dan experiments with colours, finishes and textures. These include crushed glass, gold and silver leaf, marble, bronze, and glass diamonds.
In 1995, we opened our first-ever gallery in Stratford-upon-Avon. With just one goal in mind - to make our art accessible to all - our fledgling company began to spread its roots.
Every piece of art is mounted, glazed or framed by hand, with our bespoke framing service selected by our creative department.
Our foundations are built on a passion for art, and many of our staff (and collectors!) have been with us from the very beginning.
